The ADEL project (ADvanced ELectrolyser for Hydrogen Production with Renewable Energy Sources) aims at developing a new steam electrolyser concept, the so-called Intermediate Temperature Steam Electrolysis (ITSE).

The new concept will increase the electrolyser lifetime by decreasing its operation temperature while maintaining a satisfactory performance level. This will allow a significant part of the required energy to be provided as heat, the rest being provided as electricity. This, in turn, gives flexibility for coupling the electrolyser with various heat sources and potentially increases the energy efficiency of the complete system. Read more.
